Retreat, retreat retreat.....

The word retreat makes it sound like you should be running for the hills so to speak, one definition of the word is;

The act or process of moving back or away, especially from something hazardous, formidable, or unpleasant.

Well this isn't the same meaning as the word I intended it to mean unless your counting for the fact that there were numerous Powertex tutors getting together all at once and in the evenings there was alcohol added to the mix! ha

Jokes aside, No the kind of retreat I meant was;

The act that means a place you can go to get away from it all, to rejuvenate, revitalise and re-inspire.

Well last weekend that's what I was doing in a round about way as it was the Annual Powertex tutor retreat!!!

Over the two day weekend retreat (plus the extra Maria fondler-Grossbaum day) we got to meet lots of other tutors from around the UK that you don't always get to meet in person as tutors, so it was really nice to meet people face to face, see the silly side of people, get to know their personality, share fun times together, have a laugh but most of all, the one thing that a lot of the busy tutors don't always get the time to with art altogether for the sheer fun of it.

We did 3 projects over the 3 days, there was a party in the evening on Saturday, a meal out on the Sunday, we shared tips, tricks knowledge we have honed in from personal experience, there was lots of giggles and laughs there were even silent moments of pure concentration. Our first piece was taught by fellow tutor Rosie Casselden who is full of vibrant happy energy, she talked us through the fantasy fish project.

I loved creating this.

Next was a textural piece taught by Tracey Evans and the last day was a day learning techniques from the international artist maria fondler-grossbaum.

Its times like this I feel so lucky to be apart of a team that get together, support share and have great times with. There's one thing I'm so happy I did and that was join the Powertex team as a tutor!

Being the Team leader for Dorset, I'm always looking for new team members to cover specific areas, if your interested in joining the team and want to inquire further please contact us today.
